Form, structure and surface determine the works black and white and grey and white as decisive parameters. They are the result of an experimental approach to photographic material and the diverse possibilities of inscribing oneself in it. In black and white, a photographically produced record is supplemented by drawings created as frottages with a graphite pencil on parchment. As a motif for the photographic record, the impression of a charcoal strip was chosen, which is characterized by a particular structure, blackness and shiny surface texture. The hand-made frottages are taken from the same subject as the classical photograph.

black and white thus questions the technical image of photography as merely a representation of reality, experimenting with further ways of recording. In this way black and white tries to get close to graphic processes.

In further experiments, grey and white, the motif elements of the rubbings are combined to form a free composition. The result is a large-format print on fabric, which takes the elements of the frottage by means of digital compositing and arranges them according to graphic aspects in a new way.
